Clean needles provided to reduce disease in drug users

A needle exchange program that aims to reduce new cases of HIV, AIDS and hepatitis C has reached 90 drug users in Syracuse.

Since January, AIDS Community Resources, a nonprofit group that provides HIV/AIDS prevention and support services, said it has distributed syringes to 90 people each week from a van that visits areas of the city where drug abusers are known to congregate.
