High school students do graduate level research on liver cancer and Hepatitis B

Seniors Michael Chen of Central Bucks West and Methacton High’s Kevin Chen are studying the link between liver cancer and Hepatitis B. They are among 60 regional entrants in the Siemens Competition in Math, Science and Technology at MIT.

While many of his classmates have spent their summers lying on the beach or working a part-time job, Michael Chen has been testing tissue samples in a lab at the Hepatitis B Foundation.
